53 year old male received experimental vertebral disc replacement on 4 discs due to severe back pain, performed in Germany. However, after surgery, patient developed excruciating neuropathy of all lower limb sensory regions as if “legs were on fire.” Patient was prescribed gabapentin and percocet, which provided little relief. Patient endured the severe neuropathy for 3 months before receiving stem cell therapy, and was given IV infusion of 3 units of umbilical cord-derived stem cells. Within 4 weeks of infusion, patient noticed dramatic reduction and then resolution of his neuropathic pain, no longer requiring any pain medications. He also commented that his energy level now is “amazing” – drastically improved from before stem cell therapy.
